Swedish House Mafia

'Save The World' World Tour 2019

Swedish house music group, Swedish House Mafia, consisting of Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso formed in 2008 and went their separate ways in 2013.

Having worked apart until 2018, this was a reunion tour that “had to be ground-breaking, unique and different to anything that we had done before.” Set designer, Sam Tozer, commented.

The trio made their epic come back, in the Tele2 Arena, in Stockholm, with an exciting stage reveal. ER Productions rigged 42 Electro Kabuki along an 80-metre truss which hung a huge white silk drape. As the wireless Kabuki system dropped the drape, the set was dramatically revealed.

The stage consisted of a ‘floating’ platform and three automated Kinesys-driven ‘UFO’ lighting rings, equipped with 140 fixtures from Christie Lites and six BB4 fixtures from ER Productions, three on each side of the DJ riser. A further 12 BB4s were rigged onto the audience trusses. 11 of ER’s brand-new AT-30 laser fixtures were positioned across the 50-metre upstage lighting truss, framing the top of the giant video wall.

ER Productions co-founder, Ryan Hagan said, “Sam had specific requirements and knew exactly what he wanted to achieve from the show. We worked alongside him to get the most out of the budget and in choosing the right fixtures for each layer.

“We then had to design the system around this. There were several thousand kilometres of cable, and with moving elements, getting a reliable network everywhere was a challenge.”

“The audience truss layers had feeds of up to 280-metres, so it was no easy task to pull the system together. Our trusted Luminex network switches were all over the roof of the Tele2 Arena. The show was timecoded, so we decided to split the FB4 controllers over two Beyond Universes to manage the flow of data to the laser heads better. Once rigged, the system was solid – we never lost a network or laser head once.” Hagan continued.

“Complex designs challenge us, and when you see the final result, you can only come away feeling incredibly happy for the entire team.”
