ER Productions was thrilled to play a part in creating a spectacular finale for the 13th series of X Factor. In the final, Matt Terry, a 23-year-old singer from Bromley, was crowned winner, beating Finnish singer Saara Aalto.
The live final of the hit ITV show, which featured performances from Little Mix and Madness, closed with an emotional performance of Terry’s debut single, When Christmas Comes Around, which was penned by Ed Sheeran.
Although ER Productions has provided X Factor with laser for several years now, this year’s final saw the British laser specialist supply its biggest ever laser package for the show at Wembley Arena.
A total of forty-eight lasers were rigged across the huge stage, including Phaenon Pro, 18WRGBB and a suite of ER’s custom designed BB3s, which brought a wow factor to the finalist’s performances - most notably that of its winner Matt.
Lasers also played a focal part in performances by guest artists like Kylie Minogue and during Louis Tomlinson's debut of, Just Hold On, which he performed with Steve Aoki.
Designed, programmed and operated by ER’s Andrew Turner, all of the performance lasers were controlled using Showtime and Pangolin Beyond software.
Always keen to introduce a new laser effect to each series, 18 of ER’s BB3s played across the upstage wall during the judge’s reveals. The BB3s and a sizeable smoke package, which included Viper de Lux and Unique hazers, were controlled using a Roadhog 4 system.
“Staging a production of this scale is very demanding but we’re pleased with how the lasers looked in the final show – they really popped. Our crew worked especially hard during this series - special thanks should go to our programmer and operator, Andrew, whose painstaking attention to detail created some outstanding laser looks. Congratulations from everyone at ER to Matt Terry on his big win!”
